Lucinda Geister, a young woman hailing from the country and new to city life, is the girl-next-door who fell in love with Joe Miner and remained true to him while he was in prison. Her longing for excitement and adventure is fulfilled by her relationship with Miner. She sacrifices her sense of right and wrong when she helps Miner and Tim after their daring prison escape. Lucinda knowingly hides the two in an abandoned paint factory. Her high-school sweetheart, Todd, stalks her and adds to her moral ambiguity.
